Closeup of a Black Dog

Meet Conan, our big-hearted fire pup with an even bigger mission

Conan was trained by inmates

Conan loves grabbing and carrying things in his mouth

Conan isn’t just any dog—he’s a striking black Lab/Great Dane mix with a family tree rooted in excellence. His father was an award-winning black Lab, and Conan himself was born on Veterans Day, carrying a name that honors the heroic military dogs who helped stop terrorism. From the very beginning, he was destined for service.

Now, Conan serves in a different but equally important way—as a certified therapy dog. His specialty is pressure therapy, where his calm presence and comforting weight help melt away stress, anxiety, and tension. He supports first responders, hospital staff, and civilians alike, showing up after traumatic events or during tough days to quietly remind people they’re not alone.

The why behind Conan’s work is simple but urgent: a mental health crisis has been declared for first responders. Stress, trauma, and burnout are taking a toll, and therapy dogs like Conan are part of the solution. But Conan’s mission isn’t just for first responders—it’s for everyone. His message is clear: healing comes in many forms, and sometimes it has four paws and a wagging tail.

So if you see Conan through the halls or lounging in the firehouse, don’t be surprised when he ambles over with that “time to relax” look in his eyes. It’s his way of saying: take a breath, you’re safe, I’ve got you.

Conan's favorite game is tug of war

Conan's siblings are all service dogs across the southern states for South Carolina to Florida
